Can be Adapted W/WO Self Starter, or Optional Clutch PackageTo achieve the lowest possible cost, low mileage base engine cores are obtained from salvage distributors, thoroughly inspected, then used as the base engine for the SET engine build up. Since the production 2.2L Ecotec employs a 10:1 compression ratio, methanol fuel and typical midget engine fuel system components are integrated while the base engine combustion system components remain stock. This concept also allows the factory production level assembly integrity to be maintained, as the cylinder head and bottom end are not disassembled during the buildup process.
The concept of using a stock production level 2.2L Ecotec base engine offers other distinct advantages compared with typical racing engine alternatives –
•Design simplicity – The SET engine package components can be easily and quickly transferred to a new base engine – literally, if you have a problem with the base engine, you can be back up and running within days for $1000 or less

The SET Racing ECOTEC Midget Racing Engine, developed over the last three years by Mark Schuck, Roger Engstrom, and Bob Thompson. Added to this group, Matt Schuck, Aaron Schuck, Eric Engstrom, with drivers Sean Murphy and Chargin Charlie Holt rounding out a complete package.
